Giani Balwant Singh, a great visionary, social worker, and a teacher himself, established Janta Senior Secondary School in 1957. He had a cherished dream to provide quality education to the young generation for which he wanted to set up institutions of higher education. Unfortunately, his untimely demise cut short his dreams. His equally visionary son, S. Dewender Singh, following the footprints of his father, a great philanthropist, established SPS Janta College in the year 2006 under the banner of G.B.S. Education Society, which was duly registered under the Firms & Societies Registration Act – 1860.
The aim and objectives of this portal are to propagate the philosophy of Sant Prem Singh Jee Maharaj (Murale Wale), who advocated a spiritual and intellectual growth of men and women alike and established a number of educational institutions for this purpose. The Management of S.P.S. Janta College is striving hard to inculcate the moral values of Sant Jee Maharaj and Giani Balwant Singh Jee, the founder of the G.B.S. Education Society. Bawa Niranjan Singh Jee, a great missionary soul, contributed generously to the growth and upliftment of the College.
The College has been catering to the educational needs of rural girls since 2006, facilitating them to pursue bachelor’s degrees in Arts, Science, and Commerce. It is a self-financed Minority Institution in this rural area, which is devoted to the cause of higher education of the economically weaker section of society, scheduled castes and backward classes in general, and students of the Minority community in particular. It is running BBA, B.Com (General & Comp. App.), B.Sc. (N.M. and Comp. Sci.), B.A. (traditional & vocational subjects), and P.G. Diplomas in Fashion Designing and Skin & Hair Therapy courses.
Bawa Niranjan Singh Ji, a luminary figure in the field of education, an epitome of selfless service who served friend and foe alike, made remarkable contributions for the growth and upliftment of SPS Janta College. After the sudden demise of Giani Balwant Singh Ji, Bawa Ji made relentless efforts to realize his cherished dream of establishing a higher portal of learning and thereby lent financial assistance as and when required. This missionary soul, Bawa Niranjan Singh Ji, was also associated with a number of educational institutions in Punjab and served as President of various educational institutions. With his blessings, SPS Janta College is marching ahead, progressing in leaps and bounds, providing quality education to the youth of the rural area.
